A worker in his 40s was tragically killed when crushed under a kibble due to mechanical failure of the crane.
Industry fatality policy to be implemented:
Step 1: Provide a report on the incident to workers on-site.
Step 2. Observe 1 minute silence.
Step 3: Full OHS audit of your site.
The crane involved is owned by Clark Cranes, the same company involved in the Richmond incident last month where a boom folded backwards in high winds.
All CRC Builders and Romano sites are to cease work for the day. All Clark Cranes are not to commence work until full mechanical audit and servicing has been completed. Contact your organiser for further details - CFMEU OH&S Department.
Seven construction workers have been killed at work in Victoria already this year. The building industry is dangerous, but workplace fatalities are unacceptable.
Our sincere condolences are with his family, loved ones and co-workers.
